The recent developments of the automobile tends to be both intelligent and integrated, and the sense of driving is fantastic! Automobile suppliers have made great efforts in the top mesh area. It integrates various accessories, among which are highly intelligent accessories, such as rain sensors, temperature and humidity sensors, etc. They are full of scientific and technological abilities.

For Example: Rain sensors can automatically sense the amount of rain to control the speed of the wipers, realizing stepless speed controlling. Vehicles without rain sensors usually only have slow, medium and fast speeds, sometimes the middle speed is not fast enough, and the fast speed is too fast. With the rain sensor, this function is seamless and self controlled. The rain sensor automatically functions by sensing the amount of rain on the front glass according to the optical principle. Moreover, the rain sensor will automatically start or stop the wiper without manual operation to provide a better experience.

When the glass leaves the factory, There are two types of functional accessories bonded to the front glass with rain sensors. In the glass assembly process of the OEM factory, the components are assembled to recognize the complete rain sensor area.

Type I: Only adhere the bracket which one can then mount the rain sensor to (Picture 1). Currently, glass on new models are utilizing these types of rain sensor brackets, such as Porsche Cayenne five-door coupe SUV 9Y3/PO536 (Picture 2).

Type II: Optical elements bonded to rain sensors (Picture 3). The factory uses a special bonding process, and bonds the glass during the glass post-process, using a constant temperature chamber while controlling the bonding position, strength, temperature and humidity, bonding time and other process conditions. In addition to the basic requirements of accurate bonding position, there is also an important point in the bonding of optical elements-there should be virtually no no bubble or only a very few bubbles at the bottom after bonding. Bubble aggregation will affect the optical sensing of rain to some extent providing it ins in the optical view of the glass.

Working principle of rain sensor: The rain sensor is installed on the inside of the front windshield. Using the optical principle and photoelectric conversion technology, it detects the rain outside the front windshield to collect data, and automatically controls the wiper and its speed after systematic analysis and calculations (Picture 4). The rain sensor has a light-emitting diode called LED, which is responsible for sending infrared rays. When there is more rain on the glass, the receiving diode receives less reflected light, and causes the wipers to increase their speed.

Choosing auto glass suppliers has an important impact on improving the subsequent installation service levels. Besides the rain sensor, the temperature and humidity sensor, which is also bonded on the corresponding printing area when the glass leaves the factory. Humidity Sensors automatically adjusts the temperature and humidity inside the car. With the development of science and technology, more and more types of sensors will begin to appear, helping the OEM’s or aftermarket’s to integrate more functional requirements on the glass.
